I’m going to start off by saying, I am not a tech savvy girl, I am just a girl. Most of my experience coding and website building has been in the last two weeks via professor Google.
Last week, I finished building my website. Also last week, I had to start re-building my website!
I will also say, I have probably made this a thousand times harder on myself than I needed to, but I am stubborn, I am my fathers daughter as they say, so I wanted to learn on my own.
With all that said, I have built this website for the SECOND time now.
I started this journey with a WordPress website via Blue Host and after about a week I decided to transfer my hosting to Hostinger due to recommendations from others on the internet. I found that all in all, they just had more to offer me, so I switched!
Hostinger offers an auto migration tool to safely and correctly transfer your website to their hosting platform and so i tried… It didn’t work. That is most likely my fault. Anywho, I decided that I can just backup my site and manually transfer it. How hard could it be? I just googled the steps and away I went.
Famous last words.
You’re wondering, “Hay, what happened next?”
I uploaded all my files, canceled my blue host subscription, and then went to explore my BRAND NEW HOSTING PLATFORM WITH MY BRAND NEW… blank… website… *cries*.
Obviously, I didn’t upload all the files I needed to, again, completely my fault. I guess after initiating said transfers, all previous data is deleted, hence the need for a backup. I was SO upset, but I deserved it for my negligence (you live and you learn).
After staring at my laptop in complete denial for at least 5 minutes, I shut it and walked away. I called my sister and commiserated, then I sat back down, opened it back up, and started designing my website again for the second time.
That was last Friday, it’s now Friday of the following week, and after a week of many near crashouts, my new and improved website is back up! I would like to thank me for supporting me, and also google (and Dr. Pepper, not sponsored, just enjoyed).
