Adventures in content creation

I submitted my first batch of paid content today!

Quite frankly I have mixed feelings about doing content creation. It was a venture I was really excited about (still am!) I think I’m just feeling slightly insecure about it. What if it’s not what they’re looking for? I was given a lot of creative freedom with this content and that’s been the scariest part. There was content I was EXTREMELY proud of and there was content where I wasn’t thrilled with how it turned out.

Due to the startup nature of this brand/business, we’re still working through the content creation expectation and guidelines. I’m excited to be a part of it. I’m hoping that in the long term it becomes a stable and lucrative gig for me. At this point, I am functioning on a month to month contracting basis.

I just completed the terms of my first contract!

Part of the discomfort with the content is that it’s meant to be b-roll and unpolished, which is a stark contrast to what social media is typically expected to be, officially or unofficially. I hope that in time there’s a niche that is carved out for me, and I also think that if I felt I worked in a more welcoming and supportive work environment I would feel better (I.e. my workplace) but I feel like there’s judgement that I receive from my coworkers when it comes to my social media presence. Quite frankly it’s just a bit uncomfortable.

I hope I can also use this content that I created to promote my own personal brand! Funny enough it’s related to my profession, which I originally wanted to stay far away from when it came to my social media presence. As they say, I am a provider but I’m not YOUR provider, and people get it twisted. I would be happy to promote this business on my socials, but you will never catch me giving clinical advice on the internet.

It’s a great business and I’m excited to share more about it as time goes on.

In other news, I also got my first brand deal today! I don’t know what to expect from that just yet, but wish me luck!

Until the next one!
