My sisters have been devout users of Camp Snap for it feels like YEARS. As siblings do, I get FOMO of the cool things my siblings have. I want to have them for myself. After months of asking if they think it’s worth the purchase, I finally got the CS-Pro. Just in time for my sister’s wedding. It literally came in the mail the day before.

I have to say I was hesitant. Not because I didn’t think I would like it, but because it does not have a screen. This day and age you get instantaneous feedback with cell phones and digital cameras. Not knowing how the photo turned out gave me low levels of anxiety and not being able to see these photos until I got home and plugged the camera into my computer was so scary.

I will say, that is partially to do with the very important event i would be candid photographing *ahem* a wedding!

What I loved:

  • The most iconic photos of the entire night were taken on this camera.
  • Quality was excellent, even better than I expected.
  • The design of the camera is so timeless – looks exactly like other much more expensive cameras.
  • 500 photos on one charge
  • Transferring photos and charging the camera is extremely easy (even for someone has un-tech savvy as i am)
  • Filter options: This particular model of Camp Snap camera has four different filter options available (camp classic, B&W, No-filter, and Build your own)

I still need to do more research into the build your own filter option. I will be sure to be back with updates when I do!

What I didn’t love as much:

  • Overexposure. The flash is not as forgiving as I hoped.

In my opinion, this is 100% user/technique error. Although as I’m sure you can imagine, not being able to know if these photos did or did not turn out until the next day was a huge bummer.

As a disclaimer, I am not a photographer, I just like taking pictures for fun. I have zero knowledge of lighting and how it will affect the flash, etc.

Based on other reviews I’ve also read, it’s simply just because the flash is too bright for the lighting or you’re standing too close to your subject. There is a little bit of technique and potential preparation involved, and unfortunately I found that out the hard way.

  • It does not come with a camera strap

Obviously this is not a flaw of the camera and just a personal preference. I am clumsy and will drop anything without any provocation because I am, and always will be, butterfingers.

Final thoughts:

100% worth the purchase. I love how present I am taking photos with this camera because I’m not able to get wrapped up in how they turned out, just capturing the moment.

It may take some getting used to technique wise and I definitely recommend doing some test shots in different settings, lighting, and distances. Camp Snap also does have other options for cameras if this particular model is not quite for you!

A word from the wise, don’t do what I did and have your first time using this camera be a high stakes event like a wedding (whoops, lesson learned).

Out of respect for privacy, only photos of myself or faceless photos are included. Unfortunately, this substantially limits the amount of photos I can include at this time.
